I am sure a lot of you got the email from ARF re: discounted propane conversion kits. Anyone ever use one? Would really like a propane generator for camp and don't want to buy a third generator (already have one at home and one at camp) just to get a propane one.

Anyone try it? Any good? Reliability and how hard are they to start? Or...should I just buy a dual fuel one and be done with it?

I converted my generator to propane after Hurricane Sandy. Took about 10 minutes to install, runs great. Haven't really used the generator since Sandy though. It'll run on high and low pressure propane and natural gas as well as gasoline.

This thread reminds me I need to get a battery for the generator and get it ready for the winter.

I've had two Yamaha gennies converted to propane, it's the only way to go.

Propane is the only way to go.

I've had a propane fed Generac standby gen set for about 15 years.

One nice thing about them:  Oil change intervals are much longer than a gas or diesel fueled engine.

This is the only propane fueled engine I've ever owned and I LOVE it.

I just jumped on the bandwagon and ordered one at the discounted price!

I have on my "to do" list to drain the damn gas and refill with fresh stabilized fuel.

Maybe now I won't; I'll just fill up my 100# propane tank in the garage!

Thanks ARF!

I use to run my EB11000 on gas.  Filling that thing with 5 gal cans sucked.  Now it's hooked up to a 1,000 gal propane tank.  Life is good!!

Hot deal.  They HAVE a kit for my military standard.  Now to bump compression from 6:1 to something useful with propane.

Does it work on the mep003 as well?

I'm wondering if conversion to propane wouldn't be a good idea, just for longevity of fuel storage.

No, MEP 003A is diesel.  Propane isn't ideal for bi fuel and these carbs are for gasoline engines.  A bi fuel conversion would be difficult at best with natural gas.  Impossible with propane.
