I'm sure it varies by state, but if you choose to attend a school on your own dime, what's the cost ?
Edit- class B. |

In this area (south of Louisville Ky) one training school charges approx. $4500.
If possible check with your local community college or your local unemployment office to find out if there are any training schools near you. You may be able to find some financial assistance for attendance. BK |

A lot of the big name companies really treat their trainees badly, because they can. Swift, Western Express, and several others will give you enough miles to keep from starving, then sue you for the balance of your "training" when you quit in disgust. If flatbed work appeals to you, Maverick and TMC have training programs that aren't terrible. You'll at least know your ass from a hole in the ground, so to speak, after going through their school. |
