Looks like they have brought back the old early 1980s Atari game system.

Are these the real deal or copycat junk?

thanks

You're welcome.

Getting an answer would require you to come back to a thread you start...which I don't think I've ever seen you do.

I've got two sitting in the closet.  I should go bust out some Adventure(tm).

You start 50 threads a day and can't hotlink?

[#12]
From what I understand they aren't quite like the originals, as they use an emulator.

Not the real deal at all.  it kinda sorta resembles the 2600, but nooooope.

I've got an original console WITH cartridges (unlike that thing) in the basement.  I should bring it out some day for the 4-year-old.

My nephews got me one for Christmas. I was gonna play it one night but then realized the controller needed batteries. I put all back in the box and forgot all about until this thread, lol. I guess I'll have to get some batteries...

I've still got mine & bunch of games also bought a Tube TV in 05 as it was the last year of New Tube TV's, my favorite was River Raider but doubt I'll ever hook it up again.

The Atari Flashback 2 used a reproduction of the actual hardware of the original 2600, though it was re-engineered and miniaturized.  This meant the games ran just like they would on an actual Atari 2600 and the old controllers were compatible.  It even had places on the mother board to solder to and add a cartridge port for playing those..

All the other ones use ports (games are rewritten for the new hardware) or an emulator for the games.

Ah, the Atari 2600 takes me back to my childhood. Woke up on Christmas morning in either 1981 or 1982 (I can't remember which) to find a system and some games under the tree.
