Does anyone have any experience with setups of this type? Looking to grab one for  deer camp. Word on the street is you can make them, how would one do that?

I've never used one of those.

For camping and or deer/elk camps I've always used a "cowboy grill" and dutch ovens.

There is very little, up to and including biscuits/cakes/breads/deserts, that you can't make with a good dutch oven.

Acquire a disk, weld the center hole up, Add handles, and cook away!

I used a new disk for mine, and couldn't be happier with it.

Stay away from the super-cheap ones that are available online from places like Agri Supply as they are made from a sheet steel stamping.

If you know a farmer, ask about discards.

It's what I did for mine. We had a stack of different sized harrow disks and made a large, med, and small

They work nice

they're great, really useful and you can cook just about anything in them. We were given one by an old cowboy friend and we use it up at the cabin. ours is about 24" dia and weighs about 30#

They're pretty much a shallow Wok. They only real drawback is you have to have something like a ring to set them on or they spill.
