So, I went to buy a new pistol today, and I handed the guy my US Bank debit card. He said the card declined. I bought gas with the card literally 10 minutes before and it worked fine, and it had plenty of $$$ in the account. I gave him another credit card and it worked fine. He proceeded to tell me that US Bank has an algorithm built into their system to deny firearm transactions. Is this true????
BTW I used the card on the way home for a sandwich and it worked fine. |

I think there was a thread a few weeks back that US Bank joined in with the USDOJ on blocking banks from doing business with gun shops; I do not think it extends to individuals, denying them buying guns, ammo etcetera. I cannot remember the name of the program. Operation Chokepoint? |

Most debit cards have a $500 daily limit. Some banks will let you increase the limit after signing some docs. Fraud liability limits and what you are on the hook for vs the bank is different for debit cards vs credit cards. IIRC my US Bank card is $3k purchases and $500 cash. |
