It should be thick enough to stab with a fork.

If you don't think so you are probably a nasty hippyhomocommiepetafag.

MEH -
Thin bacon on cast iron is better than no bacon at all.....

8/1/2015 10:25:28 AM EDT
[#2]
Thick cut and cooked about med-well - no crispy bacon here.
8/1/2015 10:27:18 AM EDT
[#3]
What is this bacon of which you speak?
8/1/2015 10:51:21 AM EDT
[#4]
There is nothing like the smell of bacon in the morning.

Thick cut is the only way.

Unless the missus buys it, in which case it is thin.  I have no idea why, but while likes thick cut bacon, every time she buys bacon, she fails to look for thick cut and always brings home regular cut.

[#6]
You forgot about the whole thick, delicious and crispy. Not floppy like a condom
8/1/2015 11:04:22 AM EDT
[#7]

I would say middle-of-the-road thick.

I recently bought a 15 pound box of Wright brand bacon at a restaurant supply store and got the "extra thick" stuff. That sounded like a good idea, but the reality is that you get a lot fewer slices that way. Even if they're marginally thicker, we can all agree that more slices of bacon = more happiness (as long as the slices aren't too thin).

The biggest problem with thin bacon is that you can't cook it floppy. Everyone knows that crispy bacon is bad.

Who gives a shit...its bacon, it's all good
8/1/2015 12:10:38 PM EDT
[#9]
Bacon should be thick and covered with pepper.
8/1/2015 12:23:03 PM EDT
[#10]
Thin and medium rare.  No one else in my house will eat the bacon I cook.
8/1/2015 12:28:50 PM EDT
[#11]
Cooked so that it is not crumbly or chewy, but breaks off when you bite into it. and sliced around .100" thick.
8/1/2015 12:33:03 PM EDT
[#12]
Thick and cooked to almost being brittle.

Lower heat and longer cooking time and you get better than floppy or crispy, which is chewy.

Poll fail, I like both.

I like the thin kind cooked crisp, or the thick cut cooked tender.

That does it, I'm gonna get the griddle out and make bacon cheeseburgers today.

Cut off the side like a steak and roasted over an open fire for the win.

1/8" thick and if you can hear it crunch it's too done.

Crispy bacon is a blasphemy to the baby Jesus and makes him want to curb stomp kittens,

Doesn't matter as long as it's crispy.

Turkey bacon microwaved until crispy.   Awwww yeah

True.  Thick and cast iron cooked.

but NOT crispy.  I mean not raw but... if it's cooked to the point where it's rock hard then it's gross.

You can slice it any way you want, but you best not be complaining about people cooking steaks well-done if you like crispy bacon because the same thing applies. Crispy bacon is overcooked. Period, end of story. Heck, it event tastes like charcoal because you've cooked all the meaty goodness out of it.

all bacon is good bacon ,I shall not discriminate

but thick is best i suppose

thick, but not too thick.

Pepper encrusted is my favorite. With a drizzle of honey on it.

I've had bacon from meat houses, butcher houses, grocery store, yada...

My hands down favorite regardless of thickness:

Got some Wright Hickory Smoked in the oven right now.

1) Wrights is good bacon.

2) More bacon is better.

3).  Crispy bacon is bad?  You're all fucked up, and you probably hate apple pie too.  Goddamned communist.

Crispy bacon, rare steaks, beans in chili. All other answers are wrong.
8/1/2015 3:03:49 PM EDT
[#38]
If I'm stuck with sub-par thin bacon I cook it folded over double and cook twice as much. Never crispy!
8/1/2015 3:06:50 PM EDT
[#39]
Thick with a little bit of crunch.
8/1/2015 3:09:28 PM EDT
[#40]
Get both.

I use thin cut for sandwiches and thick for eating by itself or chopping up for my mashed potatoes. I even have different uses for limp and crispy bacon. It's ALL delicious!
8/1/2015 3:12:21 PM EDT
[#41]
I would say thick cut if served by itself, like for breakfast, and thin cut on sammiches, burgers and biscuits and such.

Either way, bacon is glory.  Bacon is love.  Bacon is life.

I like crispy bacon, but steaks I'll eat medium rare to rare.  I don't have a huge problem w/ blue rare but I prefer a warm center, and I've had steak tartare which was good.  Beef is good rare.  Pork should be cooked properly.

Usually I just buy Canadian Bacon, chop it and eat it raw with bread and tomato.

Thick Applewood smoked and with the right balance of chewy and crispy. I like my bacon with equal amounts of crispy and chewy.
