My friend, retired Air Force Master Sergeant, sent me a Friend From a Distance coin.  We were coworkers in the same agency and I'd send his wife stuff from everywhere I traveled.

It's the only one I have.  He crossed the Styx this year.

Had all my good ones stolen while I was down range and some guys helped my wife move on post. I had some from a CSM, 1SG and Platoon Sergeant. had 7 in total. I still have 4, but there "eh". I got the CSM coin while I was in Iraq in 2008 just for being squared away when my section chie (SSG)f for whatever reason brought him over and introduced me to him.

I've got a cool one from the FBI WMD Response Team (I forget their official name and it's upstairs). It's cool, has Death holding WMD symbols. Also the FBI New Orleans Field Office, which is Mardi Gras related so that's cool too.

Got endless coins from doing my job. Here's some of them.

Most prized one came from working inside the Dover Port Mortuary.

Not many people have one of these, either:

It's cool that youve got his coins. I've got quite a few old pieces from Korea from my grandfather.

I have a shoe box full somewhere..

Tried to get one from everywhere and everyone I've interacted with.  Yet I throw them in a box and don't look at them again.

I guess when I'm an old fuck sitting around doing nothing, I can open it up and show the gran chillen.

Time for some Hellfish school--

When you say "3rd Infantry" or "1st Marines" or "7th Cavalry" without a unit size specifier attached,  you are not referring to the division, you are referring to the regiment. 1st Marines is the 1st Marine Regiment not the 1stMarDiv.

It is common practice to say 3rd ID (third eye dee) for short when referring to the Third Infantry Division, but the Third Infantry is the "Old Guard" in DC, not the Rock of the Marne division.

My meager collection. I have a couple more, including a really cool KAC one but I haven't seen them or my medals/decorations since my last move.
Got the UAV one for crashing lots of drones, the crossed rifles for doing a 22 mile off-road ruck with 130lbs through NODs, and the ERDC one for being part of the LSAT LMG end-user team.

Ok, I'll give you a true story....

So I was in the middle of Jump School and over the weekend me and my buddy Charlie B. from Jacksonville, Fl were out at a strip joint.  We both had option 40 contracts and had gone through OSUT together in the same company as well.  We were gods among men, pissed napalm and ate concertina wire for snacks.  Of course, I was wearing a Ranger Tab T-shirt.  Why the fuck not?  I was Covertness, went to military school since the age of 11, dad was a full bird colonel and I bled olive drab.  Anyway, so this chicky snack is waving her junk in my face when all went a bit dark.  I looked up and Mount McKinley with arms, legs, and a funny mohawk looking haircut is leaning over our table.  White knuckled fists made the table groan under it's weight.  I heard a voice that sounded like it could have been coming from The Almighty himself say, "What class were you in?"  I swear my chair shook with his voice or maybe it was me.  Holy shit this guy was a fucking giant.  "huh" I said.  The mountain rumbled, "you're wearing a Ranger Tab on your fucking shirt.  What class were you in?"  A voice that sounded like Mini Mouse came out of me as I explained that I was in Jump School and had orders to report to 1st Bat thereafter.

Silence

then the table groaned as the mountain got within inches of my face.  My life began flashing in a jumbled fashion in my mind as I heard him say quietly, "Take that fucking shirt off you tables bitch before I rip it off your scrawny body and shove it up your ass".

Next thing I remember was being at my car putting on an extra shirt I had in my trunk.  Not sure If I low crawled back into the bar but I got back to my table with my buddy.  Hands were shaking too hard to drink my bear even though the mountain was gone.  Glance left and there he is with this skinny guy laughing his ass off.  Then the skinny guy gets up and starts walking our way and sits in the chair next to me.  Oh shit, this is the end.  Sorry Mom, I fucked up big time.

"Learn your lesson son"? he says to me.  "Yes sir" I replied.  "Look, I'm sorry about my friend.  See, we are instructors at Ranger School and before you get to wear The Tab you got to get through us."  He reached into his front pocket and handed me the below.  "Earn this and I look forward to seeing you soon".

I looked down at what he handed me as he walked off and saw this

That was February 1984 and it has been in my wallet ever since.

TL/DR:  Fuck you it's a cool true story. read the fucking thing and be amused at my lesson in humility.
