I sent an email out saying anyone who bashes our troops when they come out don't deserve to live in this country since they are bashing those who are risking their lives for them. My friend wrote back: ******************************************* I would be 1026 if I lived in SanFran buddy. I think I deserve to live in this country. I do not support Bush, the trigger happy redneck, on the issue of whether or not we should be at war. RIght now we have lost more lives than Iraq... Hmmm, let's continue! Fuck that! So I am anti-war. Period. ROll your eyes if you will. No violence over here. I ain't getting arested, but I do not support our troops acting the part of sitting ducks on the border of Iraq. I will not say anything to our troops when they get back, and neither will the protesters. We have a problem with Bush Jr. putting our troops, all of our troops, into harms way. ********************************************* I explained that I didn't mean all protesters, but just those who bash troops don't deserve to live here. I said I can't see how he can say it is all b/c of a trigger happy redneck when: #1 We have waited 12 years for diplomacy #2 It is not just Bush but us and 30+ nations Plus I wrote a novel of reasons why Sadaam is bad and we should go in and why there is a terrorist link regardless of if he actually is supporting them now. He didn't really address that, but he did write back the following: ****************************************** Did not read that protesters were against our troops. I heard they are protesting the fact that we are in Iraq. That we are using our troops abroad when they should be at home. I know how bad Saddam is. I wish he was no longer on this planet with me, my family or my friends. He is a genius though. He knows what he wants and he gets it. Any break we get in this conflict will come to us because he gives it to us. 250,000 troops in Iraq right now? I think that our presence in Iraq will cause all 250,000 to die. He could have a few nukes under the palace to fire off as soon as we arrive in the capital city. He will kill his own people, the whole fucking country, in the name of allah or whatever, just to put a cramp in our style. I don't think blowing up the whole country, like Afghanistan will kill him. We could COMB the desert and still not find him. Years could go by, and nada! There is no James Bond to send in, I think the troops should stay and protect the home land first. I know we still have millions protecting us as we speak, but it is a quarter of a million person man hunt. I don't know what the solution is, but we are wasting time that could be spent doing... ANYTHING. ANyway, it's late. Holla BUT I don't think anyone is against our troops. ***************************************** So I wrote back that while it is not the majority by any means, I have already heard some antis saying they are turning our troops into baby killers and murderers as such. I also wrote that while I admit they may die, our choice is risk 250K troops now, or risk 5 million citizens later. He may or may not have a nuke or the ability to strike us with WMD right now, but later if we leave him alone he most certainly will, or he could give them to our enemies. I said waiting for diplomacy this long may have already led us to doom, but to wait any longer will only certainly lead to more death. So how'd I do? :( |
