[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is this Legal (Page 1 of 2)

| Went through a town on the West Va/Va stateline this morning where all the police was just pulling people over and searching vehicles. This includes both mentioned state police. Apparently there is a All Good concert there. Is this legal to stop anyone for no reason. There was a large number of West Va state po po getting in on the action. |
| Sounds unconstitutional to me. How is it legal for cops to pull over and search passerby's with no actual suspicion of a crime in progress or one having been committed? I've never been asked to step out of my vehicle but I can guarantee that if I was to be asked, I would demand proof of warrant before hand. |

I think perhaps maybe just perhaps if only then temporarily after coming to and crossing around behind the front instead subject to after closer then alternatively. Had to read that twice to make sure I wasn't having a stroke but now that I understand what your saying I completely agree without hesitation when beforehand I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not your credentials had been confirmed. |

Quoted: What pretext were they using? Seatbelt checks, DUI checkpoint, etc? It's almost certainly not right, and not Constitutional, but it's probably 'legal'. Welcome to America 2015, tovarish. Papers please, and why are you leaving your home oblast? This^ Fuck checkpoints. |

Apparently there is a All Good concert there. Is this legal to stop anyone for no reason. There was a large number of West Va state po po getting in on the action. Much detail. So particular. Wow. Were they stopping EVERYONE? Or just certain particular cars? If the latter, do you know why they were stopped? On the search part, was there consent? Were there drugs, paraphenalia, or pot smoke/odor in plain view? |
| It was 1000 am this morning...from what i could tell if you had visible camping gear as the police became available you were pulled over after that i do not know details...I was skipped..it went on for miles...lots of resources for hippies smoking dope in a cornfield. |

So you don't actually know if they were pulling people over for no reason, which means all of this is speculation on your part, even though you're trying to pass the info off as fact? I love GD. |
|
Since you're from TN Reb, I doubt they'd pull you over. If you're like most from TN, they'd end up having to tow your POS car and toothless meth head ass to jail and house and feed you until some of your kin could scrape enough cash together to bail your tatted up ass out.
No wonder you have such a hard on for LEO's

Common factor was camping gear on roadside...counted 7 west virginny state po po in a 2 mile stretch...no one was speeding city county were plentiful...i know enough to know 3 day concert means lots of fun for the police So you're still just speculating. Got it.

When I was in college in the early 1980's there was thing called the US Constitution that had a 4th Amendment ... it's gone now. Maybe. Or maybe some people should be more careful with their speed, registration, and inspection when their cars smell like weed. We don't know. I'm sure the OP will clarify. |
|
This. If this actually did happen, some folks are gonna get paid. |

So basically the OP has no idea for sure what he saw and is spouting nonsense? Yes, and in typical GD fashion, most commenters go straight to "but muh rites!!" without having any actual information to lead us to believe anything unconstitutional was going on. |

I like those type responses and really expected them...u know and i know what was going...don't play stupid We know cops were stopping people and allegedly searching vehicles. That's not really that unusual. Finding lots of cops near an event known to have lots of people using illegal drugs isn't really odd, either. Nor is pulling them over if there is RS to do so. Nor is searching the car if there is PC to believe that a crime or evidence thereof will be revealed. But then again I'm a wizard, so I know these things. |
|
Being the atmosphere of gd, I'm highly skeptical if this account. Police aren't just searching a car against your will because a concert is going on. They may have heightened enforcement and increased interaction to show their presence, but they aren't just stopping you.
I call bs or more to story. |
