I was listening to some random music on my Galaxy S5 when "Lyin' Eyes" by the Eagles comes on. ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS, and is also heart breaking.

I did some googling to see what the backstory was behind the song, if it was about a real person or not. But whatever, that's neither here nor there. I came across several sites that declared the Eagles as the greatest band America has ever produced.

They were a very good band, essentially pieced together by a record company as the first "super band."  But I wouldn't say they were the greatest.

Link to that since Henley and Frey turned down Linda Ronstandt [sp?] to form their own band. Their history is pretty well documented and none of it includes a label putting any of them together.

And yeah as a harmony, they are the greatest. Especially when Randy Meisner was in and once Walsh joined, they got the rock sound they needed, because they were more country than today's country is country.

That's because those lists go off mainly by how many albums people have sold.  While Boston is definitely up there, they're not as high as CCR, Eagles, Aerosmith, etc.  In terms of talent and musicianship, Scholz and Delp are fantastic.

The amount of hits they produced is unmatched except by maybe The Beatles.

I bet most of the people in here know all the lyrics to at least 10 CCR songs.

In terms if everything that makes a great band...you are incorrect.

Eagles are probably one of my favorites so as far as personal preference then yes they are. They have a song that anyone can relate to, not many bands have that.

Glen Fry coined the line when he & Henley were in a bar & saw an older man & a much younger woman at a table. Fry quipped, "Look at those lyin' eyes" & as they say, the rest is history.
