OK, I just got to my unit and they gave me a new laptop woohoo! But, I can't get my DVD player to work on it (I know, I know, quit my bitching. But I have some time after dinner to myself, and I want to watch Fight Club again.) Right when I start the DVD it says, "WinDVD has generated errors and windows will close the program." along those lines. Any advice? Thanks. |

Quoted: I guess this goes without saying, but have you downloaded the patches? From both MS and windvd? Also, is it a region free dvd player or is it hard coded? Yes I have searched for patches (there were none) and it is a hard coded version. Are there any shareware DVD software programs out there? |

I use WinDVD as well, with a few problems. You can try the following: -Reinstall drivers and/or software -search for an updated driver (google for WinDVD) -make sure your MS software is all patched up to date -run your DVD on the current MS media player If you want to search for a free player, try www.zdnet.com good luck. |

Tried all of the above. I am running windows 2000, the media player won't work. Still Tango Uniform Next step, zdnet. Thanks for the tips. |
