I remember that my older sister went to this concert in Portland, and who should open up for them but Iron Maiden. She said that something came out on stage during the opening act, and I was like "That was Eddie!"...she was not a Maiden fan

12 years old, first full time summer job working for my Dad at $3/hr.
I grew up on a berry farm near Salem and we machine picked at night so the berries didn't get mushed. On clear nights (IIRC it was a wet summer) you could look up and see shooting stars and satellites moving against the constellations. Crank up the scorps or JP on the walkman, find a satellite and give it both birds hoping it was a fuckin' russkie and some Kremlin flunky might have to see some punk ass American 12 year old signing to him just what he though about their nukes. I hear that music now and again and especially if I can smell a faint hint of diesel I am transported for a moment back to that time and place.
