But, hey, it could always be worse. I have my health, kids, better half (wife), some savings, and the best forum to blow off steam in the world. I almost feel bad for making the HR lady cry before I left. Almost. Anyone looking for senior level software engineers in the D/FW area? I haven't started looking in earnest yet. That'll start on Monday after polishing my resume and spending some time reloading. Maybe we should start a "Help/Work Wanted" forum. Lager, sgt_seti |

Yep, join the club. Got laid off in July 2001. Project lead software engineer. Worked for a great small company with good management, bought out by a large FRENCH company, they put in their own managers, screwed the pooch to no end, finally fired everyone. Last I heard the French company threw in the towel as far as the software division. Lost millions, fired the president, a number of VPs -- they are totally screwed up. Now, two buddies and I are getting our own company together. Living off savings almost 2 years now, but hopefully by summer things will be looking up. Good luck. |

I feel for you. That sucks really bad. Hope you have a wife with an income, and/or savings. It actually sucks more than you even realise right now. There is hope that you will find a job that you like even better. I got furloughed Sept/2001 (Goddamn mooslim terrorists) but found a good job, in a better location. Life goes on. Remember, you always have your friends here to lean on. Good Luck! |
| I was laid off from UAL after 9/11, I now drive a lift at a warehouse. I still have my g/f, my home, and enough money to pick up a new lower at the gun show this weekend to go with my brand spanking new J&T kit that I got 3 weeks ago. I will get back into aerospace someday, but till then there is still life after layoff!! |

That BITES! I got laid off a little under two months ago and am still trying to find something new. Technology jobs seem to of just dried up in this area so I am going to have to look at moving a little further afield. GOOD LUCK MAN! Quoted: But, hey, it could always be worse.
