I'd like to get a cannon ball that my uncle found while surveying.

What do you have.

More crap than I care to type about.  My wife's grandfather is a well known relic hunter and I'm a reenactor.

I guess the coolest stuff I have are original rifles, sabers and a canister screw.

I would want to be certain it was deactivated. My grandad dug a post hole and buried 5 cannon balls several years ago after being warned and becoming afraid of them.

What would you say a cannon ball should go for and how to check for authenticity.

It 's funny to me that you can buy cannonballs on eBay. You should check them out. GL!

Potentially active cannonball, hope your life insurance will cover that type of incident.

Nothing like burying UXO, but my grandad was no better.....he kept shells in the basement, where kids use to investigate. I finally convinced him to donate to a historical society and let them determine if they could be made safe.

LOL...Looking at the guy's hat/hair it must have been a 80s era find.

In my family we have an OLD photo album. It's small and leather with a date of 1865 on the spine. It has brass clasps that hold it shut. Inside are glass pics with family members in Confederate uniforms. I should get it someday. I'm not sure which side of my family it's from but it's still cool.

Rifles pistols ,bullet molds , cartridge boxes, cap boxes, cannon fusses, a bunch of fired and unfired rounds some still in wrap.

Some cannon balls and shells, a whole shitload of buck and ball and grape and cannon shot.

Shell fragments .

I still fire some of the guns once a year or so.

I think it was 1981.  I ended up reading about it last night.  Was pretty interesting and I learned the south used swords patterned after the Roman gladius sword, never knew that before.

Based on French issued swords.  I believe many of the Confederate swords were made in France.

Artillery short sword. Most were "lost" due to their weight.

A sword would be nice.

Surprised there aren't more cannon balls out there.
