Have you tried a bunch of Mexican beers and settled on Corona or is it the only Mexican beer you have ever tried? I have tried all types of beer. I do enjoy the dark one like New Castle and Guinness Black but my go to beer has always been Corona. I spend my days a lot in the Keys, so Corona is the official beer of the Keys... ![]() |

I don't see anything that could be argued against this statement. |

I'm a variety guy myself, but what I look for is a good balance between the hops and the malt.
I've been on this kick since probably 3 or so years ago when I realized I could barely tell the Sierra Nevada Fall beer from the Winter Beer, as the hops had gotten out of control. I also have no automatic negative attitude towards adjuncts. I never get invited to the cool guy beer parties. |

As long as I find the taste pleasant and the beer is cold. I'm not much for IPA styles or really hoppy beers. I like ales, pilsners, etc. I do like high gravity beer and a lot of beer from the Birmingham breweries that started up a few years back.
Oh, adding some that are aged in scotch barrels. I believe Oskar Blues has one that is either an ale or stout aged in a scotch barrel. |

As my 90 year old family friend always tells me: Any beer that you yourself enjoy drinking is a good beer. Anyone else's opinion be damned. I personally enjoy Anchor Steam Anchor steam is a damn good beer. For me its all about balance. A wide range of varieties of beer at very appealing to me but the consistent theme is a balance among the flavor fr a given style. You'll find this characteristic in a lot of the traditional varieties. Its hard to explain. Its easier to describe what I don't like really. For example the new wave of American IPAs that's come along in recent years. I can't stand most of them. Its a bastardization of a great traditional style. The traditional British IPAs were boldly flavored beers that had the hop flavor forward. They were still balanced though. Often with a pretty big grain bill and some sweet malt character to play off the big hop flavor. The american versions though are totally out of whack. They pack obscene amounts of hops into an otherwise unremarkable pale ale. They are characterized by run away over powering bitterness totally unbalanced by any meaningful malt character. They are bitter, grassy, nasty. Totally one dimensional. No balance at all. The bad thing is so many beer drinkers today mistake this as craft beer. There is no craft in making over bittered swill, giving it some clever name and label art and overcharging for it. Its not craft, its crap. Wanna be beer afficianados love the marketing. They fancy themselves having some acquired taste for the shit. Its ridiculous. |

Dark, malty, high alcohol content. Fuck yeah. Situation helps too. Any beer is good at the right time and place regardless of preference. My favorite beer I've ever had was a fuckin Busch. It was the first time I drank a beer side by side with my grandpa like a man. |

If you HAD to pick one favorite, what would it be? For stouts either founders breakfast stout (coffee, chocolate, oatmeal stout) or founders KBS (Kentucky breakfast stout) same recipe just bourbon barrel aged (not shown, but in another fridge). KBS is super hard to find, so breakfast stout wins on availability. For IPAs, shorts brewing hopstache is amazing (grapefruit brewed IPA). I love it so much, I have a 18 inch by 18 inch canvas of the label hanging in my kitchen(I'm dead serious). For something just different and out there, Unibrowe brewing La Fin De Mounde is really good. Kind of sour. Out of Quebec. |

Invite me over for a beer or two? ![]() |

The situation in which you drink it is key. IE a great stout will be better on a cold night in front of a fire than on a hot summer day. There are very few beers that I can't match a good experience to to create a good drinking experience. For a rule of thumb, if it is sold in Walmart, I will typically ignore it. If I can't do homebrew, I'll have something local. |

And regarding Anchor , try their California Lager if you haven't already. It's pretty damn good. |
