This is fun and depressing at the same time. Especially since it didnt take but mere minutes for him to squash my salary You vs. Warren Buffett |

Good for him. Why? Because he uses his influence with FBHO to give himself an unfair advantage? Yeah, why can't we have a billionaire guy to throw money at anti gun groups like Bloomberg is doing. Seems like all these billionaire types bat for the wrong team. Which is surprising considering the shear amount of taxes they pay per year. |

FWB This.. His success is earned, kudos to him.. At the same time, his attitude is that tax rates need to be raised, yet he has it setup to leverage the law to minimize the amount he pays in nonsense. If he feels so strongly, he should just tax himself at the highest rate and send the extra to the gov...That and his engagement in going against the Keystone pipeline are nonsense... |

They can afford the hit. The rich are in favor of higher taxes and fees since it keeps the competition from happening. Quoted:

Yep, plus they are well connected to the government, and government spending account for half the GDP. You can increase their taxes by 50% if the government spending gives them a 200% increase in revenue. Their companies are also sitting on tons of cash that they don't know what to do with, while young companies that compete with them need lots of cash to grow. Increase barriers to entry and growth help protect their market share. |

1.3 mins for gross salary. Probably has my salary as pocket change. Eh, they're accounting for all the gains in companies that he has stakes in. All his wealth is invested, and one dip in the market means he can have a massive negative "salary" in one year too. How much did he earn in 2009? Just looked it up, "This year he has to settle for second place after losing $25 billion in 12 months." http://www.forbes.com/lists/2009/10/billionaires-2009-richest-people_Warren-Buffett_C0R3.html Quoted:

I am happy for him. I wish I could figure out how to do the same. The part where he tells everyone should pay more taxes. Then pays none himself ? Yep, I would applaud him, if not for that. "Everyone should pay more taxes, even me!" Oh, I can write a check to the US Treasury for more than my tax liability. Well, no, I'm not going to do that. |

While I dislike that most billionaires are Obama supporters, I have one question for most of them.
Need a home automation guy? Then again, some of these guys are notorious cheap asses. It is surreal arguing for 30 minutes over a $50 line item on an invoice on a $150,000+ job with a guy worth close to a billion. He got angry at me when I pointed out to him that he was losing money standing there arguing. |

Quoted: In this thread GD (who believes firmly in capitalism, and wants to believe in free markets) bitched about someone who utilized that to make more money then them. The problem is those who get wealthy then seek to create impediments to others becoming wealthy. "For me but not for thee" is not free market. And once your wealth immunizes you to the impact of paying taxes, it doesn't undo the hypocrisy that you offer to pay the same. It's a barrier to upward mobility more than it is a downward accelerant. |

The equivalent of him buying my house is like me buying a coffee. Haha that's crazy to think about. I'm almost certain that is incorrect. A coffee would set you back far more. Not like a Starbucks or anything. McDonalds coffee.
