I've been thinking hard about buying myself one of these or a Lancer Evo VIII. One question about the WRX.. if something breaks on it can you get the parts easily or do you have to take it back to the dealership? The closest dealer around me is 2 hours away.. 2 hours there and back. It would really suck if I had to leave it overnight. We have a Mitsibishi dealership like 2 miles from my house and it would be a helluva lot easier to take it there than to the dealer that is 2 hours away.. so is the parts easily found or are they kinda hard to get?

The base WRX isn't really a comparison to the Evo VIII.  The WRX STi is more of its competition, and will be a better car in my opinion.  Same price, but 30 more HP.  If the 30 extra HP is worth your concerns, I'd go with the STi, if you are really concerned about things breaking, go with the Evo.
Personally, while I have mixed feelings about both of these cars, concerns about either having mechanical problems have never even entered my mind.

Barring you doing something STUPID with the WRX you likely won't break anything.  Parts can be had from Subaru dealers via online sites.  I got my floormats from some company in Seattle for less (including shipping) than my local dealer would sell them for.

Here's a bit of wisdom:

The EVO is pegged at 271 crank hp....the stock WRX is rated at 227 crank hp.  With ~$1100 you can add 41 awhp to the WRX via a chip swap, an uppipe a pulley and colder plugs.  Figuring 25% driveline loss that would make your crank HP about 278 on the regular WRX for about $3000 less than an EVO.

Now if you are consideting the STi at 300hp and 300TQ you are looking at a car that weighs less than the EVO by 100-200lbs and has 30 more HP.

The EVO cooks by at a 1/4 in 13.8 0-60 in 5.1.

I like them both....I like the Subaru better.[:D]
