As I understand it (History Channel says so), MARPAT works on the eyes in a funny way, and that's the reason that it works as camoflage.

I was wondering if CADPAT worked on the same idea?

Are they virtually the same?

Or is there a huge difference between the two.

I'm no expert, but they are damned near identical in pattern, not quite in color though. I would imagine they use the same visual principal.

Yes- they both use the same technology. CANPAT is the first, original digital camo. The Canadians gave, or sold the technology to the Marines so they could make their own BDUs. CANPAT is more green toned. MARPAT uses more "Coyote" brown. I'd love to find some CANPAT, but it is almost impossible to find.
