So we've been getting a ton of rain lately and as such I've noticed our sump pump has ran a bit lately. Why does it turns the rocks, bark and about the first 6 inches of my fence posts white when it dries? I've noticed this to varying degrees throughout the neighborhood, some worse or more noticeable than others. I imagine it's something in the soil? Water coming out appears crystal clear, so what gives? The rain or hose doesn't simply wash it away, it stains it.
I also wondered if anyone uses some kind of battery back up, and what you recommend? After the bad floods we had a few years back and the PNW style rain we've had in CO this spring it has my worried. I've only seen it run 2 times since I moved in here 6 months ago, both times after heavy rain but damn the thing pumps out about 20+ gallons I estimate. |
