I know this topic has come up a million times here in the past, but I'm still not sure exactly what I should get.

Graduated nursing school and am moving out of my father's house into a my own place finally. I've got a lot of hand me down kitchen stuff, but I'd like to buy a good set of cookware that will last.  That being said, I can't afford All-clad or the upper tier Calphalon stuff on my budget.

I'd like to spend around $200, $250 tops for a set.

My next question is material.  I currently use a 10" and 12" lodge cast iron frying pans for much of my cooking and have always used stainless pots.

I'm thinking of buying a stainless steel set, and just a single non stick fry pan for when I want to cook a couple eggs quickly.

What is everybody's opinion? Should I go for a stainless set? Anodized nonstick? Copper bottom? Tri-ply bottom? teflon? ceramic?

Take your pick.

I guess it all depends on how good/experienced of a "chef" you are and what you like to cook.

I suppose I'd say get a stainless set with a heavy tri-ply aluminum bottom for heat distribution such as the relatively inexpensive Revere Ware.

Then get a decent chefs knife and a poly cutting board.
