How much below market value can I expect to get if I try and sell some of my silver? Bars and coins, not jewelry.

Should get spot and maybe a few extra depening on what it is.

Sell in the EE, anything near spot is snatched up with a quickness.

I figured the places that buy silver would knock some off of it.

Don't go to a store.  Face to face CL or EE deal with someone with good feedback.  The stores will rape well below spot.

Eta-  eBay is good too, but I'd worry about a fraudulent claim.  Especially if you're hard up for cash.

Oh, they will.
Look to loose about 15% under spot at least.
Those "we by gold and silver" places are the worst place to sell to.

You don't sell guns, you don't sell gold, you don't sell ammo, and you don't sell silver.

Those are BUY items.

Silver spot price is currently at $16.35. You can sell it at $2 over spot. If you sell it at spot on EE, you will surely sell it quickly.

Personally? I would not sell right now.  I am tryin got buy more silver myself.

Good choice.  Silver is suppressed.  The fiat monetary system is unraveling.  Better to hold onto that stuff.

I have a local place that pays spot + a bonus for grade on some things.

He sells for $1 over spot.  Oddly we have to pay sales tax on silver dollars if we pay more than $1.

If long term paper investments are not your thing, buying tangible property that is obviously actively manipulated to the short side is not a bad idea.

First of all, I'm not sure why you're asking us, when you could look at the current prices on sites like jmbullion.com, providentmetals.com, or ebay.

Secondly, now is not a good time to sell IMO.  Prices are low, and I believe they're unlikely to get significantly lower anytime soon.  I would hold and/or buy PMs until we see a significant price increase.

OTOH, I suspect that the value of your savings account will go up very little, if at all, in the foreseeable future.  So, if you're set on buying something, I would recommend taking the funds from savings.

IMO, the question that you should really be asking is whether buying whatever it is that you want is a good idea.  Perhaps we could be of more help if you would fill in that bit of information.

When I sell silver to a dealer, I always receive at least 5% over spot, if they buy a large lot of bullion.
