Lots of work there.

I once did a bar in a joint in Idaho like that, except we used silver dollars. Like 1,800 of them. It was a long bar.

Varathane is neat stuff.

AWESOME! I was going to make a welcome sign in a similar way, but I never got around to it. I still have all the caps somewhere, I should give it a try again.

Cool!  How difficult is the acrylic work?

An old bar I used to go to had an acrylic bartop with all kinds of weird stuff in it...old lighters, matchbooks, keys, watches, pens, etc... I always thought that was unique.

We only had so many red white and blue bottle caps

We laid out the design,  and took measurements

Put down adhesive

Put the design back on

Used masking tape and aluminum foil to create a barrier

poured the resin, let it dry

Removed the foil and tape

And sanded the edges

That's interesting and nice. A local eatery has tables like that except with pieces of broken colored glass. Another place has pennies in the floor in a similar fashion.

Lots of work, good job. I think its a bit tacky, but I suspect that speaks more to my age than anything.

Iirc, it was like $20 per 16 oz. We used 4 of them, i think it was called "pour on", didn't smell like anything

I made my coffee table and flooded polyester resin on the top about 1/4" deep

regular fiberglass resin and then sanded it and shot regular automotive clear on it and it is crystal clear and very durable.
