[ARCHIVED THREAD] - LGS derp commando (Page 1 of 2)

| So at an undisclosed LGS in east TN, I stop by to have a transfer completed on a USP I ordered. Guy next to me is finger banging a G22. He inquired about my HK and then informs me he use to be Naval Special Warfare and had been thinking about a G22 to take him back to the good ol days. First initial thought was he meant suicide but he then tells me how all the SEAL teams carries Glock 22s back in "the Storm"(his words for ODS). And pointing at my HK box he said they found in their combat the Sig and HK guns weren't reliable enough for their level of combat. Said they routinely jammed when firing underwater but the Glock always worked perfectly when shooting underwater and he even dropped his from a helicopter on a mission and was recovered months later on another mission in perfect working order without a scratch. I pretty much nodded at random intervals and as I finished my transaction just replied "cool the Cavalry just issued us all HiPoints in 45 GAP" he seemed to take it seriously and after that i left. It was worth the trip just for the laugh |

lol People shoot at each other underwater? Shooting at submarines. Shooting at subs seem so olden times.... I prefer to take a breath, hit the sub wall with my pocket torch, and infiltrate and over take the sub with a winchester lever action crammed full with .22 short. |

I got this.

| In a place where I knew everyone one day. Watched with curiosity as a kid took up a half hour of a counter guy's time fingering every handgun in the place looking for a good home defense gun for Grandma. Curious since he just didn't look "right" when handling anything. A lot of fumbling around. All the time, he was talking about how he liked recoil and all the shit he had done and the guns he had shot while over in the sandbox. When he called the muzzle of a 1911 "the outlet", I just smiled at the counter guy, he kind of rolled his eyes I and went elsewhere. Show was over. |
|
After a few years on Arfcom, I don't put up with that shit anymore...
I immediately go all wide-eyed on them like a groupie. "COOL! What BUD/S class were you in? Who was your Command Master Chief? Who was your dive buddy? Where were you stationed? What color was the boat house at Little Creek (or Coronado)?" ![]() ...until they finally reply "that's classified" at which point I go deadpan and just call them a "Liar"
and then openly and loudly start berating them for committing Stolen Valor.
So far, I haven't been wrong on any I've encountered. |

If I ever see an arfcom sticker on a vehicle in a gun store lot, I'm gonna go in and tell the most outlandish BS story I can think of just to troll them. A woman I work with always has a story. When her son joined the military she had to buy him prescription underwear. When same son was injured in combat she had to take over his place on a four man sniper team. She has his suppressed military issue sniper rifle in her home in IA. The government put a chip in her head so they can read her thoughts. I told her I was just waiting for my background check to come back and I'm going back into the military as the door gunner on the next space shuttle to go up, because someone needs to protect them from the Klingons near Uranus. She believed me. |
