Anyone have an opinion on this channel?   I like it, he examines a lot of oddball stuff, prototypes, etc.  He seems knowledgeable, if perhaps a little nerdy.

I get that everyone hates Yeager, Nutnfancy, etc., what's the hive say about this.

No poll, I am a complete dumbass when it comes to posting, same goes for embedded video.

And no, I don't want to learn...

I've been watching a bunch of his videos over the last week. I enjoy the oddball stuff and it's interesting to see how the different designs operate. "Quite possibly the worst handgun ever made"

People have differing reasons for liking guns. I don't hunt, I hate competitions. I think a beat up old firearm is junk, you think it an antique.

I like the technology. I think the design and operation and construction is intriguing. Nerds like technology for technology's sake.

I really enjoy his stuff, have learned alot.  The 2 gun action matches are very interesting to watch too, seeing how the weapons perform in actual "combat".  They also do a lot at their Full30.com channel.

Great series.

Sooo much better than 3 and a half minutes of "The Gunny" reading off a cue card and then shooting watermelons at 10 paces.

Cool, is he self-taught, or does he have a background in engineering or the industry, if you don't mind me asking?   And when I said he was a little nerdy in the op, not a dig, I'm a lot nerdy...lol

Edited to add:  I agree, I enjoy the presentation style.  In his way, he conveys a love for the subject matter that is not forced or missing like a lot of other channels.  Probably not for everybody, as it is professorial, but if you want to learn from somebody who gets a kick out of sharing his knowledge it's hard to beat in the youtube gun world.  Completely unpretentious as well.

Pretty cool AMA he did on Reddit a while back.

Ian has a great channel and he gets to shoot big boy toys too! He also has had series on the RIA auctions and has been behind the scenes in an Austrian firearms museum IIRC. Guy gets a lot of inside access. His Web site is a library of the obscure.

Thanks to him, I want a Madsen.

Very true, some of early videos were rough (though still very informative). Now it's a well oiled machine. Certainly seems like a guy I wouldn't mind hanging out with and he obviously has a passion for what he does.

My favorite gun channel on YouTube. He's quite entertaining.
4/9/2015 8:37:47 PM EDT

He's got another channel on full30.com called inrange tv that he does with his buddy Karl.  Karl is the guy that runs all the 2 gun matches you see on Forgottenweapons.com, and was a world class bullseye shooter at one point, or something to that effect.  It's a lot more of a mix of stuff on inrange, they did a couple of videos on WWII explosive ammo used by the Germans and Russians.  A more recent one was durability testing of the new Cav Arms polymer lower (which did shockingly well).

I also knew him in college. Good guy. Encyclopedic even then. He's who I credit with getting me into shooting.

IMO one of the best  Youtube firearm channels.  No crazy sound effects or video editing, just some guy who knows his shit and wants to know more and share it.

The Mars pistol was quite good. I like the way he explained it. Somebody will complain that it was slow or there were no explosions or tits, but when he was done, I understood the presentation and the unique elements.

It would have been better if it had tits, though.

He's also contributed to gunlab.net. I thought this piece on replicating old parts with modern technology was interesting.
