So in the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" there was a scene where she stuck some spikes with sensor heads into the ground to secure a perimeter in the field.  I think I have seen something similar in other movies but my memory isn't good enough to be sure.  Anyway, does anything like this exist in real life?  I'm not talking about some ridiculous sci-fi setup like in the movie but maybe some simple something with motion sensors and alarms that could be put around your field site.  And affordable would be good, too.

And no, trip wires and such don't count.  It has to be relatively quick and easy to deploy and recover.

ETA:  Photo from movie.

Similar in idea.  Actually, what I'm really hoping for is something that has a radio connection to a monitor you could keep inside your tent.  But hey, I'd like to know about whatever would accomplish the same function.  I'm thinking something purpose-built for outdoor security might even have features I would never think of.

vietnam era platoon early warning system. (PEWS)

Detects footsteps with seismic sensors and vehicles with em sensor.

Not that great for detecting individual soldiers but rather movement of groups.

That looks cool but is much more than what I had in mind.  I'm guessing it's used for military purposes?

Hunting for bigfoot in the wild is crazy. Everyone knows that the last group of sasquatches shaved in the late 80's and started living among us.

I find that pissing on the perimeter about 50 feet out stops a bunch of small to large mammals from sniffing around your tent.

Otherwise, why do you want to be woken by every stiff breeze and possum wandering through your camp site?

If you gotta worry about the two-legged kind of critter, hide your site better or move it to where there aren't people.

Cute as can be and smart as the day is long. For ten thousand years before the invention of the IR sensor men have been breeding certain breeds of dogs as watch dogs. She works 24 hours a day and never needs much more than a bit of water, some food, and attention.

The American Eskimo Dog was originally bred to guard people and property and, therefore, is territorial by nature and a valiant watchdog. They are not considered an aggressive breed. But, due to the breed's watchdog history, American Eskimos are generally quite vocal, barking at any stranger who comes in proximity to their owners' territory.
