I'm a fan of the SWFA SS, but it is 3-9X42. The price is right as well.

3 hundos? Ain't gonna happen.

Let me guess....you want a "sniper" scope on your .270 deer gun?

That doesn't leave a lot of options.

Something like a VX2 would work.

You sniper now.

Sir, FWIW I've always been impressed by the quality of Leupold products.  In the price range you specify my bet is that you should be able to find a 3X9 VX2, that will suit your needs well.  I have one mounted on a 243 that I use for Va. whitetail.  Very good fit.  JMHO, 7zero1.

But it's not FFP

for FFP and less than $300?  Take a look at the Primary Arms

They have a couple of 4-14x44s that are FFP for less than $300.

Although the one with the illuminated reticle that I have is pretty dim in any lighted environment no matter what I setting I have it on or how new the battery is, it is clear and accurate. I don't know if they are all like that or not.

I don't have any of their FFPs but the other scopes I have from them are pretty good quality for the money.

Had a couple of the SS 10x fixed. One hell of a scope for the money, even for nearly double the price. Mine were back when they still were labeled Tasco and you could get them for $250, iirc.

Etched reticle. Super clear glass. Repeatable turrets. Kind of wish I had one back.

Not exactly what you want (FFP) but SWFA has a Blackhawk 3-9x40 on sale for $219. I have one of the 3-15x50 FFP scopes that I got for a steal that is just a re-branded Weaver Tactical scope ($750 street price and all confirmed by Weaver customer service). I believe the 3-9 is essentially the same basic scope as the Weaver Grand Slam Tactical sold through Midway with 3-9 magnification instead of 3.5-10. It's made in Japan with Weaver's lifetime warranty. I would get that in a heartbeat. If dead set on FFP, you're best off with Primary Arms, IMO.
