| They surf the Canadian east coast in the winter too. We surf all winter long here too. Of course here 58 degree water is cold. I've met guys from New Jersey that say you have to watch for chunks of ice falling from the pier. If you've never surfed you'll never understand what drives these people. |
| Back in high school i used to surf in the winter. With a nice zipperless wetsuit it isnt bad at all. There are no fisherman or swimmers to bother you and its usually the same 15 or 20 people spread over a 3 mile stretch of beach. Since there are no Piers in long beach iev never had to watch out for ice. Just have to stay away from the jetties |
