Unions sell labor, the company wants to cut costs, so they stonewall the union. Why don't they demand that the oil producers drop the price of crude?  I know how many cuts I have been forced to take because of of a RINO governor, who gives Billions to his corporate buddies, It is what a guy doing a job has to do to fight corporate welfare

The Saudi's don't give a fuck about a piss-ant union here.  If they did, their only concern would be "oh, a union failed, more US workers out of work, yay."

Nobody gives a fuck.  Nobody's going to give a fuck.  Even if they hate the gas prices going up, they sure aren't going to be happy with the union that contributed to it.

This is dumb as shit.

Yep.   Thats what we did as management did when the UAW went on strike.   Strike all you want -  I get a vacation doing your easy,  mindless job at my salary,  turned into an hourly rate. You get strike pay,  which is peanuts.

During the last strike we doubled the UAWs daily output.   And shit,  it wasnt even our day job.

Talking to a guy I know that is caught up in the strike the issue is that when things were going gang buster the nonunion sites got treated really well now that their contract is up they want the same but the situation isn't the same anymore so the companies said no.

The union bosses are being paid to refuse the contracts and strike by any number of possible individuals or entities that would like to see the price of oil rise.  This really isn't very difficult.

When the state is cutting taxes it also imposes, in order to curry favor, it is not corporate welfare.  It is more like organized crime.

Uh....apparently it is because - it doesn't work that way.

A strike would lessen demand on the crude market....furthering the supply surplus and driving the price down even more.

Gasoline and other refined products would rise as they availability would lessen.

The union has been trying to negotiate a new three-year agreement that addresses industrywide wage increases (we want more money, even though oil prices are the lowest they've been in a damn long time), safety conditions (we want more breaks) and staffing issues (we want the company to pay for more union representatives out of overhead). The deal would form the baseline for additional talks between companies and local unions, and cover 30,000 workers at 230 refineries, oil terminals, pipelines, and petrochemical plants.

Locally... from the low of 1.659 a few days ago, to 1.799 this morning.  Not sure if it's a trend yet.
