That the "anti-war" protesters in this country are really anti-Bush? Just read their signs that they display. Overseas they are not so much anti-war as they are anti-American. The way I look at it, they're only 4 possible options: 1. Saddam accepts exile. We move our forces in and establish a new government. 2. Saddam gets overthrown and killed in a coup. We move our forces in and assist in the forming of a new government. 3. Saddam surrenders unconditionally. We move our forces in and establish a new government. 4. War. We move our forces in, Iraqi forces are either destroyed or they surrender, and we establish a new government. As you will notice, the first 3 options are peacefull. So, there is flexibility on our stand. Whatever option, the UN is irrelavent. This may seem over simplistic, but I just woke up and my brain is still snoring. "Little do all those fools realize my brain is awake and fully funtional. I am just to lazy to come up with more stuff." Wait a minute! Did I just think that or type it? "I'm outa here!" Sound of feet running, door slaming shut. D'OH! Bilster |

The DU idiots tipped their hand a week or so after the midterm elections. Some of them resolved they HAVE to be anti-Bush and make every effort to paint him as the worst sort of character possible. In fact, I got my first tombstone for pointing out that a strategy of "we aren't the other guy!" is a guaranteed loosing (losing?) strategy. As I understand it, the "Rethuglicans" lost in '96 and '98 because the basic approach was "We aren't Bill Clinton!" The Demonrats lost in '00 and '02 because their strategy was "We aren't the evil, greedy Rethugs". Never works. Always viciously backfires on anybody who tries it. OTOH, at least the Demonrats are using ISSUES to demonize Bush, instead of merely demonizing Bush just because. Shows they did learn some kind of lesson. I still think it's going to chew their posterior off. |

From what I understand, every so-called "Anti-War" rally has in fact, been comprised of a majority of several of the following factions... Socialists/communists (complete with red flags and leaflets) The wraiths of the feminist movement... The liberal "special interest" cause celebres i.e. gay rights proponents (not the folks who just want to be left alone, the ones who want constitutional amendments and hiring preferences to wear beards and dresses), affirmative action proponents, "hate crime" proponents, and the folks that are convinced that economic re-distribution is a perfect solution to the country's/world's problems. (Hey, how do you live on $3,712.68, anyway?) And of course, the "Bush stole the election" crowd, who are blissfully unaware (thanks to liberal public education perhaps?) that A) we live in a representative republic, not a "democracy", and B) if we didn't, California, NYC and Chicago would elect our federal officials....the rest of the country could go screw itself. There are, I'm sure, true pacifists, who are opposed to any war, or violent act. My ex-girlfriend's mom was anti-gun, but she considered herself "pro-life",and opposed the death penalty as well. If these folks truly believe in that, then I say more power to 'em. As far as the sore-loser Democrats and Naderites who are using this as an excuse to go Bushwhacking, f*ck 'em. Their ballot box stuffing tactics didn't work. [cry] Tango7 - Every veteran hopes for peace. |
