Does anyone know of a company offering a M4A1 rifle ?
Basically, a Colt R6920 with a fixed carry handle. |

M4A1s never had fixed carry handles. This is correct. I've been issued both the M4 and M4A1. I never did a side-by-side comparison, but the only differences I remember are the M4A1 having a heavier barrel and full-auto as opposed to the M4's 3 round burst. The original M4 in the mid 90s had a fixed carry handle, but when the rail upper came out, the new M4 gained it with no change in nomenclature. |
| Del-Ton Echo 216 Basically a Colt 727, ie; fixed carry handle M4gery. 16" bbl, though. Not sure if that's a deal breaker. |

Ok, wrong model I guess. What I'm looking for is a rifle like a R6920 but with a fixed carry handle. Whatever model designation that may be. jesus 01er with 20K you'd think you would have picked up a thing or two over a span of 13+ years
That's just another kind of 13'er. |

Way back in he days before the M4A1 as we know it today (heavy barrel);
The M4A1 was a short m16 with a M4 barrel and A1 style upper with forward assist and carry handle but it had M4 cut feed ramps. Then of course your M4 a2 was the same with 727/A2 style upper. And the M4A3 was the flat top version. Of course this was circa 199x and these were not official designations for the most part. I owned all 3 types at one time; all had M4 cuts and were Colt uppers. This was back in the late 90's when you had to use a preban lower and make your own M4 (as in no one really had them except those on ARFCOM) This is what the OP was probably referring to. ETA: I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell me I'm wrong and that I never actually owned anything like that. |

Since we're being pedantic about military designations, your purported model numbers are all fucked up. You're arbitrarily assigning A1, A2, and A3 (the A3 was never a flat top) to a completely different series of weapons, and doing a disservice to people who are trying to learn the correct names for various mil. configurations. I'd LOVE to see a Colt catalog listing these models, not R6530 or whatever. |

Grabagun has that for $200 cheaper http://grabagun.com/bushmaster-a2-223-16-m4a2-30rd.html |

A lot of Guard units do, we didn't get M4s until we deployed. Whats that shim between the grip and the lower? |
|
Wow, cool picture. Do the rifles in your unit all have the selector block tabs/plates snapped off like that? Never understood why guard units had them on burst equipped rifles in the first place. |

Colt 727. Basically the same as an M4/6920, except with a fixed carry handle and slimmer CAR-15 handguards: http://<span style=http://www.autoweapons.com/photos05/may/952m16d.jpg Want! |

Quoted: I sometimes forget that here on ARFCOM you must have every I dotted and every T crossed or the basement dwelling brain trust will break out the codex and show you the error of your ways. Apparently what I am asking for is the Colt 727 style of rifle. |

What unit? (former 185th and 155th guy here) |

I have a bunch of flattop 16" guns with optics, etc..., but my goto is always my 16" with an A1, slabside upper. Quoted:

Does anyone know of a company offering a M4A1 rifle ? Basically, a Colt R6920 with a fixed carry handle. No, the M4 style is offered by EVERYONE, the M4A1 has a medium contour barrel. Only Colt's makes one, but they are 14.5" but not availible right now their SOCOM one is a 16.5" version, BCM makes one, and a 16.5" Medium contour one as well. the standard 16.5 Carbine with carry handle is literally made by everyone as a basic model. |
