Has a virus I didn't know about.

Yesterday morning as I was having coffee and reading the paper b/4 work, the phone rings. It's a very pleasant Indian(curry) sounding  man informing me that his company has detected a virus on my computer and he wants to interface with me on my computer to fix the problem.

I'm kinda angry because I didn't have the time to have him help me remove it(I was running a little late).

Is my computer going to crash and burn? What can I do?

Your computer doesn't have a virus, it's a common scam to call people and tell them that their computer is infected and if you let them remotely connect they'll clear it for you, In reality they're stealing your information. So don't worry about it. If you should get a virus allot of the techies here are more than happy to help guide you through removal.

The good news is that you're now on their list and that means that you should be getting a call from the IRS asking to speak with your attorney about a legal issue.

It's a joke yes, but my mother fell for it.

It is hard to understand how she fell for it, but she said he had a lot of info that SHE thought only Microsoft could know.

I'm unsure what they knew and what she told them

Had the same call a few days ago.  Asked where they were calling from and they said Walnut Creek Ca.  I told him bologna.  He said I was full crap.  I was going to mess with him a bit but did not have the time.  Next time I will drag them along and see if I can get a phone number to turn in.
