I am about to cut our cable out and go to an antenna. I live in a two story house and the co-ax runs will be a bitch with the antenna, which will be located in the 2nd floor attic. What I am wondering is whether anyone makes a device that will convert the co-ax signal to a wireless signal so that I can make one co-ax run and then broadcast the signal to all tvs within the house. Thanks!

Where is your tuner going to be, since that is what the TV does is locate the specific signal to tune to?

Are you sure you need an external and not just a boosted antenna on each tv?

I just ended up going with the Amazon leaf antennas for each TV that way I didn't have to run coax cable all over for the antennas. .  I have one amplified and one non amplified and to be honest the non-amplified works just as well.  I did run the ethernet data cable for each tv for streaming from the router.  It is more reliable than using the wireless.

I have used the boosted antennas before, but they don't seem to work too well in my house. The picture freezes a lot, etc. I think a bigger antenna mounted in the attic will work much better.

If you build an antenna out of scrap, with a piece of 2x4, wire coat hangers, some kind of backing like cardboard, (I used a piece of paneling) covered in tin foil and follow the directions online they work much better than any antenna you can buy.  I get 20 channels local in crystal clear HD.  I don't know about broadcasting that to tv's though.  I ran a coax from my attic to my tv.  Just amazing that thing looks like a POS and works so well.

On a different not, what cable type is being used for your cable?

If that is already ran throughout the house, you may get lucky and be able to use it for your HD antenna.

ETA- it should be marked. This would allow you to use the existing cable and only have to make the run from the attic to the cable tie in location.
