So, in the last week my parents, who moved to rural SE AZ have had an interesting problem. The 5 acre property they are on is a portion of a 200 plus acre property that has been subdivided. The original owner, and patriarch of the property is old, and likely has dementia.

In the last week he has several times taunted my parents guard dogs, calling them to the fence and then trying to kill them from the other side of the fence. The last time with a pitch fork.

I am  contractor and it has been slow lately so I have agreed to spend the next week working at my parents house. They brought up ideas for observing their property and keeping this guy away. I explained the difference between game cameras and home security systems to keep a constant eye on the place.

What is the best wireless, no monthly contract home security system that they can monitor on demand?

I had the same requirements and went with the IRIS system from Lowes and I have been very happy.

I purchased enough sensors to put one on every door and window so it wasn't real cheap however the motion sensors wouldn't work out with my animals. The ability to add things such as smoke/CO detectors, garage door openers, and remote phone apps make it nice.
