Ehhh...happens all the time, either via hacked vendor, processing system or random number generator.

Not necessary true. Probably false.

Crooks now generate randomly CC numbers and names. They don't ever need to see the card. Another could be an old deal and they finally got their hands on a new batch of numbers.

Mine got boosted back in November. CC Company caught it and notified me when it happened. They claimed my account had been flagged for months beforehand for potential fraud as my number apparently was on the Home Depot breach list.

Funny thing is I do not remember buying anything at Home Depot... like... ever. Particularly using that card.

I threw those out there because the customer base for those companies are on sites like this. Not saying that's where it happened, but because of the common interest here.

My online purchases only CC info got jacked months after I last used it.  I think it was Primary, Brownells, and DSG.

Shit happens.

Capital One notified me yesterday of the same on a credit card I haven't used since 2008. I can't even go back that far in statements to know where it has been used. I think I only used it a couple times since I got it.

Not a big deal.  Your CC company takes care of it.  It just costs you the hassle of getting a new card and updating your subscriptions.
