How do you pull the trigger?  Tip, pad or with the first joint?  I began with using the tip of my index finger but find myself using the full pad now and feel that I'm more accurate.  Am I developing a bad habit?  How are you guys and gals shooting?

As long as you finish your trigger pull flat you can stick it all the way in.

as long as it's a press and not a pull it really doesn't matter

under stress, who knows, set up a target at 7 yards and yank with the first "knuckle gap" and you might be surprised

First joint, gives me a straight pull.

For shotguns though it doesn't matter much, as long as that sucker gets pulled.

First joint for rifles, shotguns, and handguns.

For 1911s, I like the short pad trigger because of this.

That's how I learned to shoot and not going to change now.

My grandfather used to use his middle finger. I remember him trying to teach me to shoot that way when i was about 10. It was a no go for me as i was already shooting for a long time by that age, but his logic was fast accuracy using his pointer finger to point at what he was shooting.

This is where I feel that I'm evolving to.

Pad, and bring it straight back when shooting for precision at distant targets.
Admittedly when I'm shooting fast and close I don't have a clue, I think I get closer to the knuckle but not quite there. Don't especially care if the bullets land where they're sposed to.

after reading mas ayoobs books i switched over to the distal joint.he uses his distal joint and is a great shooter. his reasoning on using the joint is that you will be more accurate and consistent in a stressful situation such as a self defense shooting.
