Just found out that there is Five Guys burger joint opening up in my local town.
Not heard a lot about them or ever tried the food. What say the CARNIV-ARF? Is this place any good? Is it McDonalds crap mush, mid range meh-ness or Epic Fleshy Goodness? |

Its OK - I guess. the have decent bread and its nice and greasy; which makes it taste better because its moist. Put it together will honestly good fries and you have a decent meal for $8. Vinegar is available and large holders for Ketchup push it over the edge for a better-than average. I still like Fudruckers and Red Robin better as they have a better product. But then again; they are more costly. |

Pretty good burgers ... I went a few times when one opened up near me about 4yrs ago.
Prepare to doll out close to $25-30 for a meal for 2 ( burger fries drink ) Easily drop close to $40-50 if bringing the wife unit and a couple kids. I personally think my eat out $$$ go a lot further at other joints ( healthier food options also ) YMMV definitely worth 1 visit just so you know what its all about. |

the trick is figuring out a combination that works for you. Once you figure out what condiments, you're good to go.
I do the bacon cheseburger with extra cheese, grilled onions and jalapeños, pickles, mustard, BBQ sauce, and hot sauce. For me this works. Then from the magic soda machine, I blend lime and cherry fanta into cherry-limeade. throw in some cajun fries and all is good. |

Meh. Their fries suck. They are supposed to be done right (blanched @ 250 then re-fried at 375), but they don't know what they are doing at the 4-5 stores I've been to and use the same temp for both. I no longer go there. All the ones I have been to are good. Haven't been to one in Texas yet. Fries good. I don't like the seasoned ones though. |

Whoa...... 11 replies before the POLL!!! Nice one fellas. General consensus is "good but pricey" with the sound of it. I will attempt to obtain a price list when it opens. Can you guys recommend a particular Burger to try on first visit? Double bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, shrooms, jalapenos, mustard. |

Decent. Definitely better than McDonalds. I think it's expensive for what it is I could take a dump on greaseproof paper and it would be better than McDonalds. I guess expensive is relative. Not sure how much a Big Mac Meal is now but I know you won;t get much change from £5 ($7.80). You guys seem to pay a lot less for food than we do. |

Can you guys recommend a particular Burger to try on first visit? Regular (as opposed to the small) Bacon cheeseburger with light jalapeños. Small Cajun fries to split with whoever you go with. It's a treat for the large carnivores that reside at Chateau Ironhand, and there's one right down the street. I like how they prepare an order of fries;
1) Set the cup in the bottom of the bag. 2) Shovel in fries until they spill out the top of the bag. 3) Hand the bag off to aforementioned hungry carnivores. 4) Make it home with about half the fries missing, a "Fry Tax" implemented by whomever is driving back from Five Guys. |

Cajun fries were OK.
