The lower the number, the higher on the list you are.

For instance nakednews.com

scored: 8,227

And Delta Uniform scored: 10,708 (much of which HAS to be us).

Funniest of all are the reviews:

Remember those sour, greasy-haired losers with blotchy skin who never did their homework and used to fall asleep in the back of the class back in high school? The clueless ones who never got it right, so they sat in the back, friendless, sullen, seething with impotent rage, entertaining themselves with fantasies of their own self-importance? Well, they're all there at Democratic Underground. They're just as sullen and hate-filled, just as clueless, they're still not doing their homework, and they still deserve the contempt of the rest of us.

If I had my way, I would line-up every memeber of DUhhh in front of some of my fellow Service Men and force them to explain themselves. Simply put, they are more loyal to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein than they are The United States of America. These little pussys make me SICK!!

I honestly thought this site was a parody. I feel sorry for those Democrats that think this site is a reliable, truthful site where they can obtain honest information. I have never seen such dribble before. And they wonder why their party is in trouble.... go figure.

I went to the site, registered.. tried to post and all I saw was a bunch of little whining kids that had nothing better to do than talk bad bout their own country.. Its okay to disagree with the government but to say "I am democratic" but ban every opinion thats different from theirs is really poor... no my friends.. the site is a joke!

I've gone to DUhh and read a few posts. I can tell you that these people are not Americans nor do they have any logical mindsets that most people can use to elaborate a sensible discussion. Truly a Socialist board that cares nothing about debating anything accept their own veiws. And a constant bashing of GWB. Its a joke. Go sign up for yourself and post you Love George W Bush and they will BAN you immediatly. Max.

Okay, so how do they 'know' this rank. For instance, my site ranks 198,553. They don't have access to my server logs. So how do they think they know hoe many people visit??

I went to Alexa a while back and Arfcom was 100,000. Well, its grown quite a bit since then.

Us progunners are the only thing keeping the antigunners from dropping off the radar completely.  We always know what the opposition is up to, and we understand our enemy.
Our enemy does not understand us.

You remember the attack a couple months ago which took out several major national servers, and the net saw a major slowdown?  It stands to reason that those servers know everything that goes on, because they control everything that goes on.  They relay a request from you to the correct server.  That's why you don't have to wait 20 minutes for all the servers to return queries about where AR15.com is, and to load the site.  The national server takes your query and directs it to the right place.

Can someone explain this graph to me?

Steve, the graph you posted isn't loaded for me, but I will explain because I think I already know what it is.
The graph shows traffic ranking, not traffic numbers.  For example, if a website received the most hits of any site on the internet, the graph would show that it was #1, not the actual hit count.  It might have ten million visitors, but the ranking would not show you ten million.  It would show #1.
Read the rankings as a reverse of the traffic count.  The higher the rating number, the lower the traffic.  The lower the rating number, the higher the traffic.

Sure, the spikes are high traffic. The numbers seem to have dropped way down during the holidays. This is because we have family and friends.

DF, the graph seems too radical to possibly be accurate.

Again, it's traffic RANKING.

Best believe that during Nov./Dec. Amazon.com and such were kicking our asses comparatively. It is not a indication of membership or even our traffic.

It is how our traffic compares to the traffic of all other websites.

[#16]
Steve, I can't speak for accuracy, but I peek [peep] at the traffic level from time to time, and it really does look like that.  One day we have have 100 visitors and 50 members, and the next we can have 10,000 people.  There doesn't seem to be any discernable pattern, save for the October spikes (when the name "AR15" got batted around on the news) and the holidays.  The February spikes don't seem to have an explanation.

My DU review:
DU is trying to build an online progressive movement in order to effect actual change in this country, so they say.
But what they fail to realize is they cannot build any kind of force for change until they connect with the mainstream viewpoint.  As has been stated in these reviews already, if you show a conservative viewpoint, you will get banned.  Political movements cannot succeed without the support of the majority.  One never gains the suport of the majority if one staunchly refuses the input of all opinions.
Simply put, the Democratic Underground is the most visible sign that the Democratic Part does not know where it is going, can't acknowledge where it is, and has forgotten where it came from.  They have settled on mainly bashing rich people, and slamming those who vote for any conservative as "stupid".  They actually did express amazement that anybody could be so stupid as to vote for Bush.  The majority of liberals approach issues from a perspective that is constructive solely on emotion.  They are long on feelings and short on facts, knowledge and rational thought.  Because of that, the political school of thought as majority opinion is dying out.
I do not hate them.  I pity them.

The root servers don't get every request. Requests go to a local DNS request at your isp. If your ISP's DNS server already knows the correct IP for a web site, it sends it to you. If it doesn't, it goes out to the root server to find out who handles DNS for a particular domain.

In fact, I just checked alexa's about page at http://pages.alexa.com/company/technology.html?p=Corp_W_t_40_L1 - they apparently only record information on web sites visited by 'alexa users'. It doesn't really record all web traffic, because that would be impossible. It's like the nielsen ratings system - a sampling based on what they presume to be an accurate sampling of internet users.

Heck, if you really want to make AR15.com look impressive, just have a bunch of hardcore ar15.com users become alexa members -that should shoot ar15.com up to the top 100.
