Didn't know where to put this.

Hello! I'm Sour. The user name "Joab" was already taken so I used the name of my dad's old high school band. I'll soon be getting my Master's degree in Historic Preservation with an emphasis in Museum Studies. Did two internships with military museums in Missouri, met some great people. I've been collecting guns since I was 18, carrying concealed since I was 21, and loved every minute of it.

Looking forward to meeting like-minded folks and doing some good business.

At least Muntz had an awesome single-shot breech-loader (a Sharps or something modeled after it, I think).  Don't see too many of those in movies, especially cartoons.

Welcome.  Arfcom is like the Mos Eisley cantina.  It is full of some of the strangest things in the galaxy.  There are plenty of folks full of great info, as well as some random guy that likes to force feed people Peeps, people that like ponies, democrats, libertarians, probably a Rastafarian or two, and worst of all, people that like Glocks.

That said, when you jumble together the assorted brain damage of all the users here, you end up with a pretty kick ass and knowledgeable forum.

The tech forums are well moderated but GD is kind of the toilet of the site.  The bear bit would be the septic tank

Hey. Quite an artifact you've got there!

Old documents have three mortal enemies: heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.

The paper will last a very long time if it is kept in a dry place out of direct sunlight in a room with good environmental controls. The ink they used back then was different, so it should still be legible after many many years. Some go as far as to put their documents in plastic sleeves and a three-ring binder. Make sure they are acid-free!

I wouldn't advise laminating. Too much heat and pressure. To be safe, make a photo copy or transcription instead.

To make sure it lasts as long as possible, limit how often you handle it. Latex gloves wouldn't hurt, although that's a personal choice. It shouldn't crumble in your hands.

That's about all you need!
