I'm looking at the olympus 720 what are you using? Any thing to look out for? This one has 8x optical zoom and 3 mgpxls.

The Olympus is a good camera and was on our almost bought list.  We went with it's competition the Fuji 3 meg 6X optical with avi.  The fact we already had one earlier Fuji and price swayed us but have heard good things on the Olympus as well.

Forgot the anything to look for.  One thing that you should really look at is how you intend to use the camera.  We've gone completely digital and very seldom print anything out.  Comparing the pixels, we could have gone with less but really like the avi. We are retiring the camcorder.  Digital images are just easier to store and access than paper.  Our big project now is digitizing our paper pics.  Some print everything, in which case be careful of you printer for if it's not that good you will want to upgrade.  3 meg is one real clear picture.

Nikon coolpix 995. Depends on what you want it for. I bought the coolpix for it's macro function. I like to take pics of my insects, rodents and snakes. It does really good outdoors and close-up. Sometimes inside with flourecent lighting you have to play with it.
I'd look around on the web when you figuire out what reguirements you need and look at some reviews.
Since I've gone digital I hardly ever use my 35mm anymore.

Cannon PROshot 90 IS.
I just had a picture published on page 19 of the LP Gas news/ Came out Jan. 2003 that was taken with this camera.
Good HIGHer of the  Lower end cameras.

Sony's 707 is nice but the proprietary memory stick leaves little options.  Excellent Zeiss lens.

The olympus takes decent pic's.

Take a look at the Cannon G series.

Check out Digital Photograhy magazine or the Review series.  There is a website that compares features. Sorry I can't remember it.
You need to make a check list on how and where, and your motivations for use.  This will help you in your selection.   I do a lot of outdoor photo's.  So I opted for the 10X zoom..  and ability to add filters such as UV and polarizers and a hot shoe attchment for a strobe.

I'll second the recommendation for the G2.  I bought an S30 last year, but did a ton of research on all makes and models.  The G2 is the best one out there, it was just more than I wanted to spend at the time.

I have an Olympus C-3040Z, and love it!  The newer C-4040Z is the same thing with more pixels.

I have an Olympus C-4000, 4.0 megapexel, that I am very satisfied with.  You can get one on the net for around $375.00.  They are over $500 locally.  Look on Mysimon.com.

I spent weeks reading reviews and asking photographers about their gear.

I bought a Nikon Coolpix 2500 to replace my old 110 pocket camera. It's small enough to carry in my pocket and takes shots that look good up to 8" x 11".

Now I'm doing research on a replacement for my SLR's.

Sony  DSC S75 Cyber-Shot, 3.3 mega pixel, 6X power zoom, MPEG Movie EX with sound, Carl Zeiss lens, it's out-dated and been through hell but continues to be very reliable.

You can't go wrong with the Olympus.  I have a c3000 that is 3.3 megapixl and love it.  Very great quality pics.
