Penzeys is the stuff, don't cheap out on your spices. There is a difference. I would have never guessed but I'm not into spices. I grew up using salt and pepper but I'm trying to help my daughter out with her new cooking habits - she's become very health conscious so getting her some good spices would help with her meal plans. A poor college student can only eat so much chicken and rice. |

A poor college student can only eat so much chicken and rice. Chicken, rice and beans; and you're eating as good or better than most people in this world my freind. Buy some canned tomatoes and some frozen veggies. Get some pasta. Get some spices. You can eat very well with decent variety on the cheap. |

I usually order from The Spice House in Chicago for stuff I can't find locally. I recommend them. They ship your first order in jars, and you can order refills in bags. |
| Another for Penzey's. They entice you with a catalog every month that has a "free sample" coupon for something. It's like crack. You get a free sample, then you want more. Pretty soon, you're stealing TVs for nutmeg and performing unnatural acts with a donkey for some oregano. It's a fast downward spiral. |
| Is there a Central Market near you? Their bulk spice section lets you bag as much or as little as you need. Do not need to get a 4 oz. jar, you can get a couple of teaspoons of ,say hot smoked paprika @ 12.99 lb, get 0.06lb for $0.78. scoop in small ziplock bags and keep on shelf or in freezer. |

https://www.penzeys.com/ was in the shop today.....great people. small business ^THIS! Penzey's spices are so flavorful, you'll wonder why you ever bought spices at the grocery store. Well worth the price, and if you have a local store, they have recipe cards throughout the store, and if you get on the mailing list, their monthly catalog also has a free small jar coupon. |

Imagine a company that thought you would want to buy their products because they sent a letter to your home calling you a bigot and the place you live a den of intolerant racists. Waukesha residents like my wife, the Lovely Doreen, received a letter from Bill Penzey on the opening page of the summer edition Penzeys Spice catalog, titled "Waukesha – Community of Kindness." Penzey has made it clear that Penzeys Spices is "only for some people, not others," and he wants to only sell to those special people that hate Waukesha (a more conservative area than say milwaukee). So much for the motto, "Love to cook, cook to love." The only real love at Penzeys Spices is for Bill Penzey’s hollow self-righteousness. http://www.rightwisconsin.com/perspectives/Pass-the-Spiced-Insults-261468741.html |

Frontier spices.
Their quality is excellent, they can be found at many grocery stores under a couple different names, and they sell in bulk through the internet and at places like Whole Foods. Whenever I have a choice I always pick Frontier and they have never let me down. |

This is a guy I went to school with, he researches and blends a ton of his own spice mixtures. Awesome products. |

Good to know. I was going to try their business after Alton Brown recommended them. However, speaking as a Waukesha County resident, they can pound sand. |
