It was a tragedy about the shuttle, but I have been so numb to tragedy it really never hit me. Then 10 minutes ago I see a helmet and the patch laying in the field. I just start crying and realize what the F&^k just happened. I related that and them saying something about finding body parts. I never thought they would find remains let alone all of the Astronauts. I just started thinking of what I saw at WTC and the shoes, purses, photos and all those burnt and separated body parts. It hit home that this is a tragedy no smaller than the WTC or anything that I witnessed or see on TV everyday. That these were People killed. That there are families crying for their parents and children. My heart goes out to everyone who has been touched by this. Those Emergency Workers walking in woods and the streets of the USA looking for remains and parts. It just amazes me that they found bodies of these true heroes. GOD pleas let them lay at rest and allow their families to have some peace of mind. |

I was thinking after what I saw at Ground Zero how lucky the families of the astronauts are that they can get the remains back. Also, we're lucky as a nation that our shuttle, even though under horrific circumstances, came home. It landed right back where it came from. It didn't land somewhere else. Imagine the clamoring/scurrying around if it came down in another country, of people trying to steal/recover components for technological gain. Or it could be held for political ransom by the Chinese if it had landed there. There always seems to be a blessing in all these tradgedies. Sherm |

I’m in no way minimizing the shuttle tragedy, but it was by all appearances an accident that occurred while pushing the frontiers of science. The events of 9/11 were a deliberate attack on this nation by religious lunatics with the intent to kill as many Americans as possible. In my view of this world, the differences between the two incidents are profound, even though the end results were similar. As far as people in a foreign country stealing shuttle debris if they had the chance – it would appear we’ve got some of that going on here! [:(!] |
