Having spent more time than I care to getting rained on in PA in the cold, I have to say that any time I actually needed a hardshell that my old issue Gen I Goretex parka worked perfectly fine. Anything lighter and more modern would work even better. |

Quoted: $500 for a jacket. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: are you guys retarded? Now you know some here are........ ![]() Why'd you have to even ask. $500 is worth it if you spend time in the mountains in the winter. You need a jacket that keeps you warm and dry, yet lets your sweat breathe out and allows you to cool down without freezing your ass off.

I'm in my late twenties and I still just rock the old school waffle style long underwear, then usually a fleece then a jacket and am always fine. Don't buy the hype of all that bullshit. |

Maybe he needs a .260 with a $3k scope because it will work better for his intended purpose. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Wait, wut? You want a hardshell but not a puffy one? Do you mean you want a parka? Cause shells aren't isulated. They're just shells. Quoted:

Why'd you have to even ask. If it is what I want, then I will pay that. $200 to $300 is more along what I want to pay though. I do carry a $600 + pocket knife at times, and wear a $300 watch. So a $300 jacket is not out of the question. |

So a $300 jacket is not out of the question. Shop around for an Arcteryx Beta LT hardshell, and an Atom LT mid-layer. You'll spend about 650 to 700 for both, but they will layer perfectly together and will allow you to use the non insulated shell as a rain jacket in warm weather. 4 seasons of usefulness, and keeps me warm down to about 15 or 20 degrees, without sweating when it is 40 or 50 out, since they both breathe great. It will hold up for years, consider it a comfort investment. I'd probably shop around, you can generally do better than list price on Arcteryx's website. Fuck the haters, it's worth the money. The ones saying it isn't either haven't tried it, can't afford it, or both. |

Quoted: Good to 15-20 is just not quite warm enough for what I am looking for. Highs of 3. Maybe. And lows down below -20 when sun is down . |

I bought a North Face Gortex shell, used on eBay, for about $50. It's served well as my ski jacket for the last four seasons. I look like a giant yellow and black bumblebee flying down the slopes. My skiing party can always find me. It's shocking what an older North Face Gore-Tex shells sell for on eBay. Bargains. |
