An interesting rifle for sure. Seems to have reliability issues from the ones I've run across.

Even when it would extract without malfunction it was throwing brass in all directions. Seemed to have some real gas problems, idk.

70 year old gas-operated semiauto rifles run with corrosive ammo by illiterate conscripts in the muddy, frozen hell of the Ostfront?

There might be some pitting and wear, yeah...

I've never had the pleasure of shooting one.  It seemed pretty reliable to me once he got the gas adjustment dialed in.  I've had the same problem with other rifles that had gas adjustments, any time you change ammo you may have to adjust the gas setting.

I should get one for my ww2 collection. Still need a German Mauser as well.  Have pretty much everything else as for rifles by the major players of the war.

I have a lead on an early 80s FAL... give me some time, and we'll kick it up a notch.

Mine has been reliable, simple to maintain and shoots without drama in the 26yr's I've owned it...

ETA ------------- the third photo in the OP ----------- the first and third rifles appear to be SVT 38's...
