absolutely fantastic - once people's defenses come down, they're just people. Polite, curious, in a joking mood....people. But the key (and this is the tragedy) is that the group HAD to have two black folk walking with the white folk in common cause for the mostly black Detroiter's to 'get it'. If it had been all white then their hackles would have been up. The inclusive nature of the patrol was an instant "this is OK" signal as clear as a uniform or a badge.
I applaud this sort of 'street theater'. we absolutely are being played against each other, black vs. white, rich vs. poor, urban vs. rural.... the only peaceful way forward is for "we the people" to unite on common loves rather than mutual hates. The oligarchs grow strong to the degree the vast majority is more afraid of each other than their relatively small number of hired mercenaries. |

That mostly white crew got death threats when they said they were going to walk through a black neighborhood.
