I had it off for a couple hours in the middle of the day while I dealt with an initially bad thermostat. I had to run and exchange it - that took about an hour. Temp rose to 81 internally. I cranked it down to 72 to cool the house down for the evening. This was three hours into it and it takes the upstairs longer to cool for some reason than the downstairs (probably bad insulation). I ended up setting it to 75 for the night. |

Ever since we put that 16 SEER Trane A/C unit in, it gets frosty quickly. Nothing runs like a Trane! The reason the upstairs takes longer is hot air rises, and all the warmer air ends up upstairs. I like the idea of a smart home, as long as the Electric company has ZERO access to anything past the meter. |

Can you describe the details of the system, I am looking at a new security system right now and would love to avoid the pitfalls. Honeywell Vista panel. The house came pre-wired so I went with a wired panel. Did retro-wiring for additional keypads (two extra for a total of three including one touchscreen). Will be adding a wireless motion and wireless glassbreak in a couple of weeks. Siren is upstairs, Glock is on the nightstand... The Tuxedo system facilitates the security and lighting & temperature control through one interface. Honeywell offers a remote access service called Total Connect that lets you do it through an app; very cool. I've got my outdoor lights programmed to turn on at sunset and off at sunrise. I just don't have the extra 3 seconds it takes to do it manually, and my time management has notably improved. |

OP dont you have to subscribe to a service for the totalconnect to work? Outside the house, yes. From inside, I just log into the Tuxedo through its IP address on a mobile browser. They have a mobile sight for control that works within your wi-fi network. |

I need to add some lights and switches but the locks, alarm, and monitoring are good so far. |
