[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Walmart kinda night (Page 1 of 2)

| So a while back I was in a walmart and was about to leave when they announced on the PA system that there was a missing child. As the person was speaking the employee at the door closed and locked the automatic doors and then refused to let anyone out of the store while they (employees and whoever else) searched the store. I didn't think much of it and was fairly content with my fat sack of FSA goodies however now that I think back on it having seen the walmart receipt checking thread can they lock you in the store and prevent you from leaving? |

For a missing kid? I'm a parent. I wouldn't have a problem with that. I remember a story of a little girl that went missing in a Wal Mart. They locked the store down, found her unconscious in a bathroom, head shaved and a wig on her, change of clothes beside her. Might be a urban myth, but it resonated with me. Edit: Yup. It is. I'm a sucker when it comes to protecting kids. I'll buy that line every time. |
|
Good on them for sweeping the place ASAP to find the missing kid.
Bad on them for holding customers hostage. I would ask politely to be let out of the store one time, after pointing out that I don't have any children with me. If that failed, I would either force my way out, or shrug my shoulders and say "have it your way" before utilizing the nearest fire escape. Depending on how cranky I was feeling. |

I am walking out that door with their permission or not. My canned biscuits need refrigeration. Pretty much this. If you're organized enough to barricade the front doors, your organized enough to mobilze your fat ass employees across the store and find the kids. One night after work, I was still wearing my uniform and a little kid came up to me and told me he couldn't find his parents. I just escorted him to the service desk and asked the lady to page his parents. They came running up and got him. No need to lock anybody in any where. |

Quoted: At target we do not lock the doors but no one is allowed in or out. Our security watches both doors |

Quoted: The correct answer is to crack open a six pack of beer and some Twinkies. If they're going to falsely imprison you, you should be able to eat and drink to keep your health up. ![]() And no Wal-Mart employee is going to keep me locked in a store. ![]() Wasted an afternoon last week watching Wal mart surveillance videos, every fucking inch of that place is covered, and they can show your every move from entrance to exit ( not sure about potties) but the resolution sucks. In the videos I saw you could not Id the thieves

Quoted: So you only support restriction of rights for the chilluns when it doesn't involve firearms? Quoted: Quoted: ... You tell me. You are the one that started drawing absolutes here. So you only support restriction of rights for the chilluns when it doesn't involve firearms? What a loaded bullshit question. Have you stopped beating your wife? I said I didn't have a problem with it. For me. I knew you were trolling when you said it the first time. |

Yes can't really see them not letting you out if you don't have 'that' kid with you. Now monitoring the door, then yes OK. |

Go hang out at a hospital until they call a code pink. Same thing will happen, but the cops will be there rather quickly too. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Code Angel at the group I work for. I am supposed to go and monitor the nearest exit I am around at the time it is paged. |

If you want to leave, you should be able to leave, once it is determined you don't have the kid. |

Quoted: I was locked in a hallway at a Bass Pro shop during a tornado warning. I it was for our safety and we were all gladly there. Many times while chasing on the plains chain restaurants will make everyone go to the basement. It's infuriating, how they hold people hostage. Fuck that, let me out and ill take my chances dodging the weather, something I'm good at.

Walmart in Warsaw Mo. Did the same thing... All of the employees directed everyone to the middle of the store where they encircled the shoppers and joined hands, not letting no one leave without walking over a very determined elderly lady. Many times while chasing on the plains chain restaurants will make everyone go to the basement. It's infuriating, how they hold people hostage. Fuck that, let me out and ill take my chances dodging the weather, something I'm good at. Quoted:

Fuck that, let me out and ill take my chances dodging the weather, something I'm good at. I read an article not too long ago about a wall collapse in a Home Depot during a tornado. Some shoppers and family of those killed are suing HD for failure to protect them. The article mentioned a safe room or something in the middle of the store for people to huddle in during storms where those tall "lift in place" concrete walls are in danger of failing. |
