Let's say I'm at a zoo looking at the tigers or some other large predator and someone fell in. Would I be arrested for shooting the animal if it was attacking that person. I saw this video and was wondering just that as I watched it. Warning guy gets killed in the end https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=523356501142682&fref=nf |

That is a tough one. I guess I would just go with my conscious at the time it actually happened. What is tough about it? I would not hesitate to shoot an animal if it attacked someone...especially if said animal was more than capable of quickly killing someone. |

You could still be charged with a crime. I think most zoos prohibit weapons, so you may be in violation of no weapons law. ill take that hit to save a human. ![]() So would I, but that doesn't mean you didn't break the law and may be charged. There are many people close to the zoo that would rather see a dead human than a dead animal. |

Said kitty (or whatever animal) would be introduced to some Gold Dots at a rather rapid pace. I am not going to sit and watch someone get killed, knowing that I have the ability to possibly save the persons life. Don't see how someone could live with themselves if they didn't at least try. ![]() |

The way people froth at the mouth when a "majestic" animal is killed it made me think That there's a good possibility I would get railroaded into jail time somehow, like for killing endangered species or something like that. Perhaps those same people would be happy to see captive animals set free. Which is what you would have done by shooting it. Flip side, if john or jane doe wanted a closer look at said animal, bring binoculars. Leaning over a fence that is clearly marked. NO LEANING OR CLIMBING ON FENCE. deserves their Darwin Award. Here honey, hold my murse. |

One does not "fall" into the tiger pit.
An idiot climbs over the fence to get a better look at the 600 pound kitty, shows off to impress his friends, and then falls in. The tiger did exactly what tigers do. It saw free food and it ate it. I have no sympathy for people who pull stunts like this. Zero. The animal is worth more to me than the asshole who thinks that someone will save him before it kills him. |

Regardless, I don't care how he got down there....I am going to at least try and stop an animal from killing the guy if I have the capability. You mean to tell me if armed, you would have just sat their and watched? |

Some states have civil immunity for self defense shootings. Guaranteed someone will try though. |

Yes, and now you're adding to it. You said they would sue you for shooting their animal. Number one, that would be terrible PR and almost certainly not happen. Number two, the fact you were violating their posting is not going to matter much considering you saved a life regarding a civil suit. |

It would be difficult to kill a tiger with a typical carry weapon. If all you end up doing is enraging it, you haven't accomplished anything. Smacking the railing made it flinch. I bet 3 rounds into the ground would get it to flee. If not you're in excellent position for a spine shot. |

That act, though sort of intentional, can't be considered the same as a fully developed person who does it. It might take a bit of soul searching to prevent me from finding the guardian and throwing him into the pit when the other one was safe. |

A shot at distance on a Tiger that size? What is your carry gun? What if you shoot the Tiger and he decided he would still like to eat the guy? I could see them saying that you enraged the animal and are responsible for both of their deaths, or some such craziness. |

Dude was dead as soon as the Tiger got his Tiger on. Snapped neck, nice and quick. Most US Zoo's carry 375 H&H for just this reason. About two years ago a keeper was killed in Jacksonville, FL. Crushed by a Rhino. I would've thought 12ga slugs, but penetration is needed on a rhino & hippo |

First off, the FUCK was the guy doing in there!? Seeing the exhibit when the cameraman pans away, there is a large anti-climb slick cement wall (approx. 15ft high), and about 2-3ft away from that on the top is a chain-link fence... OBVIOUSLY this guy went over the safety fence. HIS fault, survival of the smartest.
Secondly, why nobody was running to get, say, a rope or a zoo worker with a tranq or something is saddening... People would rather watch a guy get eaten by a tiger than they would try to save the poor bastard; just can't look away in case the tiger eats him before they get back... And finally, YES you would get in shit for killing the tiger, not only for having a firearm in a zoo (which, in most locales is illegal) but also for killing endangered species... However, depending on how retarded the judge is, you may be able to get off in the defense-of-humankind aspect... Still, with how fast that tiger took that guy, it would be a miracle you got the shot off in time, without shooting prematurely (i.e. "this redneck just wanted to kill a tiger cuz he kills animals indiscriminately every hunting season waah waah the environment waah waah precious tiger, etc. etc. etc...") Really, it's METT-TC... - CK |

Effortless power carrying that guy away.
