and to think, I just paypal'ed my $20 to the site, how fitting.
If you would please read the actual thread, I'm asking for other ways to get rid of them, not neccesarily killing them.
Your little diatribe about the tree being here longer than me is nice and all, but c'mon.  you could say the same thing about hunters.
Now I know where the anti-mod sentiment comes from.

Um, I just got here and can't speak for Paul, but I found your thread and found this:

Initial post:
or just get rid of them.
I'm on a construction site, and its a school we're rebuilding (to the tune of $35mil). There's this big tree in the parking lot that the birds sit in and crap on the cars.
[red]Is there some kind of poisoned food I can feed them so they drop dead?[/red] Or some other means of making them get the hell out of here?

When you ask about specifically illegal things YOU leave US no choice but to lock the thread.  The "us vs. you" mentality in this situation was brought about by you, not the Mod involved.  IOW, we all would have no choice but to do the same.

Suggestion--start another thread asking for ways to discourage the birds without asking for ways to kill them, which is illegal in virtually all jurisdictions.  [;)]

Get you some fake Owls.
That scares most birds away.

Just scatter a few bags of rice all over the ground under the tree. And definitely don't let anyone see you do it.[X]

The problem with fake owls is that they attract stupid neighbors and government officials.

oh boy...anyway

The problem with the owls in this case is that:
1. The jobsite is in the ghetto and they would probably try to steal them and
2. Its a construction site, the last thing I need is the enviro-whackos thinking we've got an endangered species out there.

Fake snakes--as in sections of old garden hose will work wonders.  Ideally, get them to hang up in the tree branches.  The birds will NOT come near.  This is an old gardeners trick.

You want to kill songbirds!!!???[V] WTF dude? Buy a $10.00 car cover ya cheap shit. I hunt. I eat what I kill, and I never commit wanton destruction. I like birds and they have just as much of a right to eat and shit as any other creature, more than some people I know.

"song" birds?  come by sometime and listen to the lovely "song" they let out.

I do find it humorous that someone with the name "soylent_green" is worried about birds.

Did he specify what kind of birds? Crows, seagulls, pigeons? While songbirds are protected, some are edible like english house sparrows. We have a cat problem here. Not because there are too many, but they kill more birds and squirrels and leave their carcasses scattered than the 12 yr old neighbor armed with a daisy 4x15 scoped bb rifle.

When I was in school I walked past this building with an open garage type enclosure with rafters. They had one of those fake owls. The other birds were too busy building nests in the rafters to pay the fake owl any mind. I guess they get smart after awhile.

Last time I checked poison food wasn't species specific. You spread  poisoned grain, you kill songbirds. No matter what the intended target. Or is that just being too rational?

So I take it we can't talk about killing noisy constuction workers who leave crap all over the neighborhood by leaving out poison-laden fast food or spiked beer?

Just checking...  [:D]

Fortunately for me I'm high enough on the food chain to be able to defend myself, so have at it.  Besides, if ya'll discuss your strategy here, it'll help me prepare to defend against it.

I believe Paul explained why the original thread was locked, when he locked it. starting a "boo-hoo" thread about a closed thread wastes bandwidth. I believe GB also posted a rule about it somewhere, maybe.....
