Looks like I need a new bug-out vehicle... Set to debut at the Caravan Show in Düsseldorf, Germany, the special Zetros features a cabin made from one-piece galvanized and plastic-coated panels, along with a carbon fiber slide-out section that increases living space. This is all mounted on an off-road ready Unimog chassis, with four-wheel drive and a 7.2-liter diesel inline-six that produces 326 horsepower. Despite having the equivalent of a small apartment on its back, Mercedes says the Zetros can climb the steepest slopes and cross almost four feet of water. |

some of these Expedition or Earth Roamer vehicles are flat out awesome...........
14 Extreme Rigs
especially most have a $550,000+ price tag or even a $200K used price.

I saw this thing in St George, UT a couple yrs ago. Home made, even had a pretty good website discussing their trip. http://<a href=http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/chase237/DSC01085.jpg</a>" /> http://<a href=http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m628/chase237/DSC01086.jpg</a>" /> I'm going to have to find my pictures, but I swear I think this is the same mog that I saw in Galax VA last year. |

They were good peoples and traveled pretty damn far. Just checked, and sure enough it's the same mog. Link I saw this thing parked in an abandoned parking lot in Galax. Really made my day. I believe the occupants were still asleep as they had pulled curtains to block the view inside it. I snapped a couple of pictures of the mog and posted them on my FB account and had quite a few who had never seen a Unimog before. I would have liked to have talked with them, seems like they had a hell of a trip! |

THis thing would make Walter White and Jesse Pinkman lose their shit as far as mobile meth labs go

Expensive and seldom-used. So, like 95% of every RV out there? Yeah, I think we're violently agreeing on this. You guys are agreeing the fuck out of each other. You don't agree? Just stand over there and run the camera. |

Cool trucks indeed but if the SHTF I would think being somewhat less visible might be useful. Quoted:
Cool trucks indeed but if the SHTF I would think being somewhat less visible might be useful. This was my first thought. While vehicles like this definitely have a cool factor of 11, in a SHTF situation, that thing is going to draw fire everywhere it goes. Every half-assed bandit and wanna-be Humongous is gonna take one look and say, "Oh yeah, I gotta get me some of that." Your life would be one continuous, rolling gun-fight. For the same cash you could buy a big place out in the sticks An Arfcommer in another thread just bought himself a 166 acre spread for 158K. Something to think about. |

Guy at work has one. He paid $140,000 for it used. Pretty neat on the inside. [ETA] He's driven it from Texas to Alaska and back already. Tranny went out in Alaska in the middle of nowhere; that was expensive. He also had to abort camping in this one area as the 3 Million mosquitos in the area somehow found a way to make it into the vehicle. |

Quoted: If it's Unicat based.....higher Nice shiny things, but pricy. Quoted: Quoted: It would probably be minimum 500k, closer to 750k I bet. Nice shiny things, but pricy. Yeah, I'd bet it's easy to break the million dollar mark with some of those machines.

And a bit (just a bit) lower profile than the unimogs. Euro's have a few makers of those big expedition rigs where you can go see Africa. Some of them are fucking insane. Nothing really like them in the US. Also, most of them are really NOT intended for anything off road.

Hell, the local NG commander starting to think about becoming a post SHTF warlord would probably "requisition" it from you as a mobile command post in the first month or so. |

Arnold's Mog is for sale...$275,000...Just buy that and put a nice Lance Camper on the back. |
