Ok, here goes... I have been tring for three days to get connected to two online games, namely Quake III arena and Counterstrike (Halflife) This is my system: 1.7 GHZ AMD Athlon 256 MB Ram 32 MB Graphics card ModemSurfer Cable Modem SMC Barricade Router Ok, I posted a thread saying I was connectiong, finally. Well, that was short lived. I would connect, and after on the server for all of 5 seconds, I would ping out and freeze up. I have the lowest settings on both games, and put the IP in the DMZ, so I can have unfettered access. I have disabled my software firewall (McAfee). I updated both programs with the latest updates. I tried opening ports through the NAT on the router, but there ended up being too many public ports on all the different servers, and ran out of space and ideas. I was temporarily connecting to Quake III doing that, but then it kept freezing up. On counterstrike, I can get as far as WON authenication, and then it retries to connect four times, and times out EVERY TIME. Quake III I just get "No or bad challege or address" on every server I try to connect to. So, I have finally figured out I have no clue. I thought I could work through this, and have been to every website I can think of or seach through for answers, and got zip. Any ideas? I will try anything and everything. Thanks again |
